Message from the Rector

Kayseri University was established in our city—a city that has been a center of ancient culture and scholarship (known historically as makarr-ı ulema – "the city of scholars"), a place that has proven itself in trade for millennia, and that in recent years has made significant strides toward becoming a key hub for industry, commerce, tourism, and culture in our country—by Law No. 7141, published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018, No. 30425.

The foundation of our university can be traced back to the Law on the Establishment of Kayseri University, which was published in the Official Gazette on November 18, 1978, No. 16463. This university, established by the aforementioned law, was transformed in 1982 into Erciyes University, one of the most established universities in Kayseri and in our country. The re-establishment of Kayseri University from this foundation in 2018 is a clear indication of its deep-rooted academic tradition. I am honored to have been entrusted with contributing to this re-establishment process as the founding rector, thanks to the trust placed in me by our President, and I now have the privilege of serving a second term in this role. I continue my duties with great enthusiasm and the utmost effort.

Although our university was initially founded with a focus on vocational and technical education at the associate degree level, it has significantly enriched its educational and academic scope with the addition of faculties such as the Faculty of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Islamic Sciences in Develi, the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences in Develi, the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences. Currently, Kayseri University consists of six faculties, one graduate school for postgraduate studies, and thirteen vocational schools.

We are committed to establishing productive and effective collaborations—especially with other universities and public institutions in our city and region, as well as with the business world. Moreover, we strive to maintain the highest level of cooperation and dialogue with local organizations such as the Chamber of Industry, the Chamber of Commerce, and Organized Industrial Zones, particularly on matters that benefit our city and country.

In this context, we have already established a vocational school in the Kayseri Organized Industrial Zone, and with the support of philanthropists, we have initiated efforts to construct a building and campus area in the zone to allow our Kayseri OSB Vocational School and our Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design to operate in close cooperation with the business sector. Named after the city it serves, Kayseri University continues its activities in collaboration with all stakeholders, fostering dynamism in fields such as education, science, culture, arts, tourism, industry, and commerce while contributing to the development of our city in these areas.

Aware that we still have a long road ahead, we continue our efforts—just as we did yesterday and will do tomorrow—to make Kayseri University one of Turkey’s leading universities by offering high-quality education, advanced research and development, and strong societal contributions. This mission is carried out hand in hand with our academic staff, students, administrative personnel, and the people of Kayseri, grounded in our principle: “Striving for the better, learning from the past and present, and planning for the future.”

We must all understand that universities grow and evolve through the quality of education they provide and their scientific achievements, and they contribute to society through their cultural and artistic activities. Therefore, it is vital for universities to carry their efforts in these areas into the future with an understanding of continuity and sustainability. As Kayseri University, we place the highest importance on all these aspects and aim to elevate our institution to a highly respected level in terms of both education and research, as well as social and cultural development. On this occasion, I extend my sincere regards to all our students, academic and administrative staff, and all fellow citizens of Kayseri. I hope that our university’s activities will bring renewed momentum to the development of our city and our country.
