Kayseri University (KAYÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa issued a message on the occasion of the 955th anniversary of the Victory of Manzikert.

In his message, Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa emphasized that the glorious victory, which opened the gates of Anatolia to us and made this land an eternal homeland, was not only one of the most significant turning points in our history but also one of the most strategic milestones in the course of world history.

Rector Prof. Dr. Kurtuluş Karamustafa stated:

“The Victory of Manzikert, achieved under the command and leadership of Great Seljuk Sultan Alparslan on August 26, 1071, is one of the most strategic cornerstones of our history. This magnificent victory not only made Anatolia our homeland, but also changed the course of history by establishing a foundation of justice and tolerance upon which our civilization would take root. We can never be proud enough of this profound legacy left to us by our heroic ancestors.

Inspired by the consciousness and wisdom conveyed by Sultan Alparslan’s historic words, ‘I have acquired such a homeland for you that it will be yours forever,’ we are determined to carry our sacred homeland, national unity, solidarity, and bonds of brotherhood into the future by keeping them ever strong. It is our foremost duty to ensure that our glorious flag flies forever in these sacred lands entrusted to us by our ancestors and to preserve our deeply rooted civilizational values.

As a university, we are working with all our strength to advance Türkiye by taking strong steps in every field, from scientific production to the development of qualified human resources, and to contribute to a Türkiye that charts a course based on justice and fairness both in its region and across the world, while thwarting the malicious schemes directed at our geography. In line with the vision of the ‘Century of Türkiye,’ we will continue to lead in science, technology, and education, drawing strength from our rich civilizational heritage, in order to contribute to a Türkiye that has a strong voice on the global stage.

With these feelings and thoughts, I commemorate with mercy, gratitude, and respect the great commander Sultan Alparslan, who opened the gates of Anatolia to us, and all our martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives to make these lands our homeland. May the 955th anniversary of our Victory of Manzikert be blessed.”
